When Estrella returned home, she became frightened when she saw a “strange, beautiful woman” in her apartment. I have reread this wonderful piece of historical fiction after some 25 years. This is one of the best business books I've read.
This book is also fresh-the authors address Enron and 9/11, and give us insight into executives from companies like IBM, Nike, Wal-Mart, Solectron, Cisco, Yahoo, EMC, Campbell's Soup and dozens more.
One truly refreshing and unique aspect of this book is that it's based on an study of 18,000 leaders; not hearsay or opinions. Sometimes the propulsion of storytelling makes me surprised this is not some middlebrow fiction, not so hailed by critics. Useful as a field guide for anyone visiting the San Francisco Bay region.
